GeelongPort

GeelongPort requires permits for key engineering activities to ensure safety and protect infrastructure. Each permit process includes a formal application, review, and approval by GeelongPort Infrastructure Delivery. Downloadable procedures and permit forms are available below.

The required information should be sent via email to infrastructuredelivery@geelongport.com.au.

Crane Permit

A Crane Permit is required for all mobile crane operations at GeelongPort facilities, regardless of crane size or lift complexity. This permit ensures that wharf and pavement structures are not loaded beyond their design capacity.

Excavation Permit

An Excavation Permit is required for any excavation works at GeelongPort, regardless of size or depth. This ensures underground services, ground stability, and environmental risks are assessed before work begins.

Berth Compatibility Assessment

A Berth Compatibility Assessment is required for vessels exceeding published berth dimensional or displacement limits. This assessment ensures the vessel is compatible with berth infrastructure and safe for operations.

Shipping agents or vessel operators must email infrastructuredelivery@geelongport.com.au with vessel particulars and supporting documentation as outlined in the procedure.

Wharf Loading Assessment

A Wharf Loading Assessment is required for operations involving loading systems (e.g., bulk cargo, break bulk units, machinery) at GeelongPort berths and hardstands. This ensures loading activities do not exceed structural limits.

Assessment requests must be emailed to infrastructuredelivery@geelongport.com.au with details of location, cargo type, weights, lifting methods, and storage procedures as outlined in the procedure, at least five business days before planned operations.
