Port Access

GeelongPort requires all Port Users and visitors to comply with GeelongPort site access requirements. Please note that your attendance and activity on GeelongPort’s site is subject to the terms and conditions of the GeelongPort Standards and Procedures which are available here.

Site Access Inductions

GeelongPort has transitioned to a new induction system and all companies need to be registered before individual employees are able to be inducted.

All companies that require an employee to access GeelongPort to conduct work activities must register in our Contractor Management System, Donesafe.

Company Registration in Donesafe System

Employee Induction

Companies and Sole Traders can register their own details and maintain vision over which of their employees are inducted.

If you have been engaged by a GeelongPort representative (Contractor Works Supervisor), please contact your representative to arrange your company registration.

If you have been engaged by a Port User, please contact the Donesafe Business Administrator of the company who is engaging your services and request that they send you an invite to register your company in Donesafe.

To complete a Site Access Induction to access GeelongPort, your employer must be registered in our the Donesafe system.

  • Please check with your Business Administrator to find out if your company is registered in GeelongPort’s system.
  • Your Business Administrator is responsible for assigning a Site Access Induction to you so that you can complete it before arriving at GeelongPort.
  • Once you complete your induction, you will need to book an appointment at the GeelongPort Security Office via the Online Booking System to have your Site Access Card issued or renewed.

Site PPE requirements

The following safety clothing and equipment must always be worn whilst in operational areas.

  • Safety hard hat
  • Safety glasses
  • Long sleeve top
  • Trousers
  • High-visibility safety vest or top
  • Safety boots
  • PFD (Personal Flotation Device) when working within one metre of a wharf edge

For all Donesafe and Site Access Induction related issues, your first point of contact is the Business Administrator of your company.

GeelongPort Site Access Card Appointment Booking System

Appointments occur at the Corio Quay North Security Office during business hours. 
Enter 138-140 Corio Quay Rd, North Geelong VIC 3214 into your GPS system for directions.

Upon arrival at the Corio Quay North entrance gate, press button on the intercom and announce your full name and appointment time to Security.

Once the gate is opened; 

Car – follow the red line on the road to the Security Office.                                                      

Truck – follow the green line on the road to the Security Office.

You are required to present photo identification such as a Driver’s License. You will have a headshot photograph taken during the appointment

Visitor, Delivery Driver and Host process

Host

A GeelongPort employee or Port User who is fully inducted with an in-date GeelongPort Swipe Access Card.

As a host you are responsible for accompanying, continuously monitoring and safeguarding visitors and delivery drivers across the Corio Quay North and Lascelles precincts.

Visitor

A person who is not performing any work on-site and who is attending or traversing the Corio Quay North and Lascelles precincts for the purpose of a meeting or tour only.

Delivery Driver

A person who is attending or traversing Corio Quay North and Lascelles precincts for the purpose of delivering or picking up packages and other goods.

Lascelles Wharf

Hosts are required to notify GeelongPort security by email on c.cqn@geelongport.com.au in advance of the arrival of any visitor or delivery driver at GeelongPort.  

Please include the visitor’s  name, company, date and expected time of arrival. 

If GeelongPort Security has not been notified, the visitor/delivery driver will be denied access to GeelongPort.

The Host is expected to;

  • Meet the visitor/delivery driver at the Lascelles Workshop car park and ensure the visitor(s) signs into the Sine Core Kiosk (Visitor Induction Kiosk steel box located on the outside of the Workshop building). The visitor/delivery driver will complete a Visitor Induction or Delivery Driver Induction at the Sine Core Kiosk.
  • Remain with the visitor throughout their time at Lascelles Wharf.
  • Escort the visitor back to the Visitor Induction Kiosk to sign out of the Sine Core system.
  • Ensure the visitor leaves GeelongPort once they have signed out.

Corio Quay North

Hosts are required to notify GeelongPort security by emailing c.cqn@geelongport.com.au in advance of the arrival of any visitor or delivery driver at GeelongPort. 

If GeelongPort Security has not been notified, the visitor/delivery driver will be denied access to GeelongPort.

The Host is expected to;

  • Meet the visitor/delivery driver at the Corio Quay North Security Office and ensure the visitor(s) signs into the Sine Core Kiosk. The visitor/delivery driver will complete a Visitor Induction or Delivery Driver Induction at the Sine Core Kiosk.
  • Remain with the visitor/delivery driver throughout their time at Corio Quay North.
  • Escort the visitor/delivery driver back to the Corio Quay North Security Office to sign out of the Sine Core system.
  • Ensure the visitor/delivery driver leaves GeelongPort once they have signed out.

How do I gain access to GeelongPort after hours?

  • Lascelles Wharf – Lascelles Wharf is a 24 hours 7 day a week operation.
    If you have completed a Site Access Induction and been issued a Site Access Card (physical or digital), you will be able to swipe in and out.
    If you have completed the Site Access Induction, but not been issued a Site Access Card, you will be required to sign in at the Security Hut at the front gate.
    If you have not completed a Site Access Induction, you will be denied entry.

  • Corio Quay North – The Security Hut located at the front gate will only be manned when a vessel is berthed at the wharf.

    If you have completed a Site Access Induction and been issued a Site Access Card (physical or digital), you will be able to swipe in and out. If you have completed the Site Access Induction, but not been issued a Site Access Card, you will be required to sign in at the Security Hut.

    However, when the Security Hut is not manned, press the button on the intercom and Security at Lascelles Wharf will answer and give you instructions to gain entry.

    If you have not completed a Site Access Induction, you will be denied entry.

How do I gain or renew a Site Access Card?

To gain or renew a Site Access Card, you must have completed and passed the online Site Access Induction.

What do I need to bring along with me to my Site Access Card appointment?

  • Photo identification such as your Drivers Licence.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • It is the responsibility of the company who has engaged you to work at GeelongPort to send you an invite to register your business in Donesafe. If you have been engaged by GeelongPort, it is the responsibility of the GeelongPort Contractor Works Supervisor (CWS) to send you an invite.
  • A current copy of your Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency (minimum of $20 million if you are undertaking works for GeelongPort)
  • A current copy of Workers Compensation Insurance Certificate of Currency if you are a company.
  • A current copy of your Professional Indemnity Insurance Certificate of Currency if you are providing professional advice or guidance to GeelongPort.
  • You will need to nominate someone in your company to perform the role of “Primary Business Administrator.” They are responsible for uploading business details and insurance documents, adding workers, assigning Site Access Inductions and having visibility of the induction status of employees. They will be the first point of contact in your organisation for all Site Access Induction and Donesafe queries. 
  • The Business Administrator will receive an email informing that the business profile has been approved by GeelongPort.
  • The Business Administrator of your company is responsible for adding employees who need to be inducted. The inductions are to be completed online, before arriving at GeelongPort.
  • As this is a new system, any employees with existing access can continue to access GeelongPort until their Site Access Card expires, but they will not be moved to the new system.
  • Any subcontractors undertaking works for your company at GeelongPort will need to register their company separately. Your Donesafe Business Administrator is responsible for inviting the subcontractor to register in GeelongPort’s Donesafe System if they are not already registered.
