GeelongPort maintains five-star GRESB rating

GeelongPort has achieved a five-star GRESB rating for a third consecutive year, again putting the business in the top 20% of all GRESB participants globally, with maintained score of 97 out of 100.

The GRESB Infrastructure Asset Assessment is a robust assessment tool which allows GeelongPort to benchmark its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) progress against peers.

Among the key initiatives that contributed to this outstanding score, GeelongPort reduced its Scope 2 emissions to zero by introducing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in partnership with Barwon Water and Barwon Health. Through the PPA, GeelongPort uses 100% renewable energy sourced from a local wind farm.

GeelongPort CEO Brett Winter was proud of the consistent hard work of all GeelongPort staff that contributed to this achievement.

“We take our Environmental, Social and Governance responsibility very seriously and have developed strategies, policies and frameworks to support our goal of becoming Australia’s most sustainable port,” he said.

“Our team works incredibly hard to ensure our business operates at a high standard when it comes to our ESG practices and I’m very proud of this third consecutive five-star GRESB rating.”

Other key achievements include the completion of the GeelongPort Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and the implementation of programs to improve diversity, equity and inclusion.

Out of all 681 GRESB reporting companies, this year’s score places GeelongPort in the top 70 worldwide.
