GeelongPort Brings Families Together for 2026 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race

GeelongPort is proud to once again partner with the Mapei Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race to deliver one of Australia’s most loved family cycling events, the GeelongPort Family Ride.

On Friday, 30 January 2026, the Geelong waterfront will come alive as more than 1,000 mums, dads, kids and grandparents take to the same circuit the professionals will race on across the weekend.

This free event is all about fun, fitness and family – and it’s growing bigger every year.

To mark the 15-year anniversary of Cadel Evans’ unforgettable Tour de France victory, the first 500 registered children will receive a free yellow ‘Legends’ t-shirt, creating a sea of yellow as families ride together in celebration of cycling.

The GeelongPort Family Ride reflects shared values between GeelongPort and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

Both organisations are committed to creating inclusive events that bring people together, celebrate community spirit, and give everyone the chance to belong.

For GeelongPort, supporting events like this is about giving back to the community we are proud to call home. We live and work here too, and we care deeply about creating opportunities for families to connect, enjoy our waterfront, and share the simple joy of riding a bike together.

GeelongPort CEO Brett Winter said the event captures the spirit of the region.

“The GeelongPort Family Ride is a celebration of what makes Geelong special. Families coming together, enjoying our beautiful waterfront and creating memories that last a lifetime.”

“This event reflects our commitment to the community we are part of, and we couldn’t think of a better way to showcase Geelong than through an event that brings people together in such a positive way.”

AFL legend and cycling-mad Max Gawn will again be leading the pack at the Family Ride with his children ready to race. He encouraged families across the region to get on board the free, fun, family event.

“The simplicity of riding a bike with your kids and exploring the world at the same time is so good for them and even better for parents.”

“It’s not too late to register for the GeelongPort Family Ride. Some of my Melbourne teammates are riding with their kids too, so it would be great to see as many families there as possible.”

Families can also enjoy free entertainment, giveaways and a festival atmosphere, making it the perfect way to kick off an action-packed weekend of world-class cycling. To register, visit: cadelroadrace.com
