Barwon Renewable Energy Partnership secures wind power agreement

A visit to Mount Gellibrand Wind Farm on Thursday 25 August signified a new partnership between GeelongPort, Barwon Water and Barwon Health who are collectively taking a big step towards using 100 per cent renewable electricity.

The Barwon Renewable Energy Partnership (BREP) recently entered a Power Purchase Agreement with ACCIONA Australia Energia’s Mount Gellibrand Windfarm, near Birregurra, for 68 gigawatt hours a year of renewable electricity.

The annual electricity volume purchased through this plan will provide 100% of GeelongPort’s operational needs as well as powering the new Spirit of Tasmania facility when it comes online in October.

With an ongoing environmental commitment toward creating a cleaner, more sustainable port, this one-of-a-kind partnership continues to progress GeelongPort toward our vision to be Australia’s most environmentally sustainable bulk port.
