This year we welcomed two new apprentices to the GeelongPort crew. Luke came aboard as an electrical apprentice and Fraser as a mechanical fitter apprentice.
Building on the learnings from previous apprenticeship programs and the drive from the GeelongPort Diversity, Equity and Inclusion working group, we kick started the program hosting with a meet and greet for their families.
The apprentices and their parents heard about the GeelongPort history as well as the here and now from a number of team members then toured the facilities, getting a rare insight of what goes on behind the big gates at Victoria’s second largest port.
Months in and the apprenticeship program is offering Luke and Fraser enormous learnings, opportunities, exposure and experience in the maritime industry. And they are offering GeelongPort their fresh perspectives and ideas.
GeelongPort’s 2025 Apprenticeship Programs builds on the success of the program that commenced in 2018.
In partnership with Gforce, we aim to provide our apprentices with support, guidance and development opportunities as they build their careers.
